Questions we are often asked. Why is the capacity of a Hot Air Melter not as it seems? The rubber materials melter capacity has always been measured as drums. The original drums were said to be ‘45-US gallon’ capacity; an imperial gallon is a larger entity plus the material was not poured into the drums, the drums were filled with 8 pieces of solid material, ‘pan cakes’. A solid material placed inside a drum will never provide the capacity of that drum, unlike if provided in liquid form. >
